Greater Purpose exists to help young people connect directly with individuals working in the fields they’re curious about — giving them real insight from people experiencing it firsthand.
We connect youth with first responders, city workers, EMTs, nurses, doctors, therapists, skilled professionals, and public servants so they can hear the truth about what the job requires, what the lifestyle looks like, and what it takes to succeed.
Our primary focus is serving Connecticut communities and strengthening the cities we live and work in.
HOW WE DO IT
When a young person shows interest in a field, we work to connect them with:
01
Someone actively working in that profession
02
Someone who understands the realities of the job
03
Someone who can answer honest questions
Whenever possible, we aim to connect them with someone local or within their own city or department. If the connection isn’t immediately available, we help provide reliable information and direction to get them started in the right place.
The goal is clarity — not pressure.
WHAT IT TAKES
All it takes is:
A willingness to ask questions
A willingness to seek information
A willingness to listen and learn
We can’t want it for you. We can’t do the work for you. But if you’re willing to ask, we’re willing to help.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Too many kids grow up surrounded by opportunity but disconnected from it.
Greater Purpose connects young people with real people from Connecticut communities — professionals who already serve their cities and understand what it means to give back where you live.
01
Insight into city careers and public service
02
Honest conversations about expectations and responsibility
03
Exposure to paths they may have never considered
04
Direction — whether that’s employment, training, school, or another positive route
If a city career isn’t the right fit, we help point them toward something productive, not idle.
If you find yourself unsure of your direction or what step comes next, we offer free books in PDF format to help you get started.
Whether you’re involved in sports or not, these books provide step-by-step guidance to help build mental strength, focus, and discipline — and begin moving forward with purpose.
